A couple of days ago, BJP leader H Raja kicked the hornet’s nest when he spoke about demolishing Periyar’s statue and made a few strong remarks about him. Shorty thereafter, several leaders and film stars condemned the remark and lashed out at him. Following the backlash, he deleted his post and made it clear that he did not want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Now, actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth has expressed his views on the whole episode. Addressing the issue, he said that the comment was ‘barbaric’ and deserved to be condemned. However, at the same, ‘Thalaiva’ said that there was no need to blow things out of proportion has H Raja has already said that he regrets the post.
“Raja’s comment indicating that Periyar’s statue be removed and the subsequent vandalism were a barbaric act. I strongly condemn it. It is my humble view that the issue need not be magnified further as Raja has expressed regret ,” he added.
In case you did nott know, on the last deay of 2017, Rajini had confirmed that he would soon enter politics and form his own party. He had also made it clear that his party would indulge in ‘spiritual politics’ and improve the system.
“ Before the state election, we will discuss what we can do, and what we cannot do. If we don’t do what we promise, We will resign within 3 years. We will be running spiritual politics. In the past one year, Tamil Nadu politics has come down to a miserable state. People from the other states are frowning upon us. Even after all this, If I am going to stay quiet, my conscience will prick me to the day I die. This is the state and you are the people who are the reason I am living today,” he had added.
On the work front, he has 2.0 and Kaala in his kitty.
