Rajinikanth: On Dec 31st, I will make an announcement about my political stand

The legendary Rajinikanth is arguably one of the most decorated icons in Indian cinema today. He enjoys a strong fan following thanks to his humble nature, stylish onscreen image and non-controversial nature. These days, K-town’s ‘Thalaivaa’ has been in the limelight because of his impending into the world of politics. Today, the star interacted with his fans and addressed the situation. Talking about his entry into politics, he said that he will make his stand about entering politics clear on December 31.

“We need Vivegam and Vyugam to win in politics. On Dec 31st, I will make an announcement about my political stand,” he added.

Well, this is a major announcement and is bound to create waves in the political circles. Interestingly, some time ago, Rajini’s brother told the media that the star would ultimately form his own political party and add a new dimension to his career.

At that time (January), he will make the announcement about his political entry and his party. Everyone in the country loves Rajnikanth. He will do only good things for the people if he comes to politics,” he had added.

Rajini’s political ideology has been a topic of discussion for quite a while now. Some time ago, a source had told a leading daily that Rajini is going to have a centrist stand on things as he is neither a leftist nor a hardliner.’

“Rajini would form a separate party. He will not join any other party, including the BJP. Being spiritual, Rajini cannot be a Leftist. Not being a hardliner, he cannot be a Rightist too. He will be a centrist as that alone will attract all sections of society,” the source added.

Commenting further on his political style, a noted writer had said that ‘Thalaiva’ is going to stay away from caste-based politics and added that his films do not reflect his political stance in any way.

“People like his subaltern style and identity. In movies, Rajini is just playing the roles that his directors give him. Ranjith is a known Dalit activist and his movies are bound to have undertones of Dalit resurgence. ‘Kabali’ was a reaction to the 2012 Dharmapuri caste clashes. They do not reflect Rajini’s political thoughts or plans,” he had added.

Well, it will be worth watching what game plan Rajini adopts once he ultimately enters politics.

On the work front, Rajinikanth currently has ‘2.0’ and ‘Kaala’ in his kitty. ‘Kaala’ is a crime-drama and has been directed by Pa Ranjith. In it, Rajini will be seen essaying the role of a gangster and sporting a new look. Besides ‘Thalaiva’, it also features Bollywood diva Huma Qureshi in the lead. Sometime ago, she had said that Rajini is a terrific person to work with.

“It’s an amazing experience to work with Rajinikanth. When he walks, everybody becomes silent and make space for him. For me, the most beautiful thing about him is the simplicity he carries. He is such a humble person. I have never seen a superstar who is so humble, who is so simple and down-to-earth,” she had told a leading daily.

As far as ‘2.0’ is concerned, it is a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by S Shankar. A sequel to the 2010 release ‘Endhiran’, it is slated to hit screens in April 2018 and will see Rajini reprise his role from the first part. Besides Rajinikanth, it also features Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead. Its audio launch was held in October and proved to be a star-studded spectacle. At the event, Akki had said that he learnt a lot while working on ‘2.0’.

“I have done 130 films (in Bollywood). ‘2.0′ was my 131st film. I can only say that during the making of those 130 films, I got to learn little from every film, but I was learning throughout the shooting of this film. There’s a lot that we have to learn from South because the way they work, we have to understand a lot now. They work in unity and respect each other’s talent, we have to learn that,” he had added.
