Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has been extremely vocal about the Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for quite a while now, In fact, he was one of the first stars to criticise the Cauvery verdict—which did not go in favour of Tamil Nadu—and ask the TN state government to take immediate action. Moreover, he also attended the recently-held protest meet and made it clear that he would support the Tamil Film industry to the fullest on this sensitive issue.
Shortly after Rajinikanth made his presence felt at the protests, noted Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj said that Rajini and Kamal’s films will not be allowed to release in Karnataka in the future,
Now, Rajinikanth has reacted to this controversy. Addressing the situation, he said that his producers will take care of the situation and the state government will ensure that there is no law and order issue.
“We are fighting for a right reason. If they don’t allow the films to release, the producers and distributors will take care of it. And there is law and order. I am confident that the Karnataka government will give security (to my films),” added the veteran.
This is a developing situation and it will be worth watching what happens next. On a related note, this is a busy time for Rajini. He currently has 2.0 and Kaala in his kitty. 2.0 is a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by maverick filmmaker Shankar. It is a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran and will see Rajini reprise his Chitti character from the first part. It also features Brit beauty Amy Jackson and Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar in the lead. As far as Kaala is concerned, it is a crime-drama and has been directed by Pa Ranjith. In it, Rajini will be seen playing the role of a fierce gangster and redefining the meaning of swag.
