Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, yesterday, returned to Chennai from his spiritual retreat to the Himalayas and interacted with the media. On being asked a question about the BJP supporting his political ambitions, ‘Thalaiva’ said that god and not the ‘Saffron party’ is behind him.
“People keep saying BJP is behind me. That is not true. Only God and the people are behind me,” he added.
Responding to a query about VHP’s Ram Rath Yatra, Rajini said that it is imperative that the authorites maintain the state’s communal harmony.
“Tamil Nadu is a secular place and we must spare no effort to ensure communal harmony,” he added.
Rajini also said that—contrary to speculation—he will not be unveiling his party flag on April 14, 2018.
In case you did not know, on the last day of 2017, Rajinikanth had confirmed that he would enter politics and added a new dimension to his life. While making the announcement, he had said that he would indulge in ‘spiritual politics’ and change the system.
“Before the state election, we will discuss what we can do, and what we cannot do. If we don’t do what we promise, We will resign within 3 years. We will be running spiritual politics. In the past one year, Tamil Nadu politics has come down to a miserable state. People from the other states are frowning upon us. Even after all this, If I am going to stay quiet, my conscience will prick me to the day I die. This is the state and you are the people who are the reason I am living today,” he had added.
At present, he has Kaala and 2.0 in his kitty. 2.0 is a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by S Shankar. As far as Kaala is concerned, it is a crime-drama and features him in the role of a gangster
