Rajinikanth’s eagerly-awaited ‘2.0’ is arguably one of the most ambitious films in recent times. And, at present, it is scheduled to hit screens this April. However, according to a leading website, the film is unlikely to keep its date with the audience as it most probably be delayed by a few months owing to extensive VFX work. Talking about this, a source said that the VFX will be wrapped up by July and‘2.0’ will ultimately arrive in theatres in August.
“The VFX work is taking longer than expected because it has been distributed to many studios across the globe. The film has around 11000 VFX shots and each shot is being worked upon with lot of care. Shankar sir doesn’t want to compromise on the output, therefore, he doesn’t mind if the film doesn’t get completed on time for April release. The team is eyeing Independence Day weekend release. August 15 falls on a Wednesday, so the team wants to cash in on that weekend. The final date is still being worked out,” added the source.
Well, this is a developing situation and it will be worth watching whether ‘2.0’ actually gets postponed.
Interestingly, if ‘2.0’ is unable to keep its date with the audience, ‘Kaala’ may get the April slot.
In case you did not know, ‘2.0’ is touted to be a sci-fi thriller and is a sequel to the 2010 release ‘Enthiran’. In the Shankar directorial, Rajini will be seen reprising his chitti character from the first part and redefining onscreen machismo. Besides ‘Thalaiva’, it also has Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar in the lead. As far as ‘Kaala’ goes, it is a crime-thriller and features Rajini in the role of a slum lord. A Pa Ranjith directorial, it also features Bollywood star Huma Qureshi in the lead and has been produced by noted actor/producer Dhanush.
