If you are a fan of Tamil cinema then you will surely agree that Rajinikanth is a name that needs no introduction at all. During his 40-year-long career, the much-loved ‘Thalaivaa’ has wowed movie buffs courtesy his dashing onscreen personality, mesmirising performances and of course larger-than-life screen image. Moreover, he has become a source of inspiration for fans thanks to his simple personality, good sense of humour and humble nature. Perhaps that is why yesterday, on the occasion of his birthday, several fans, celebs and political leaders wished him good luck for the year ahead. Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Kamal Haasan were just some of the names that wished him on his special day.
Now, Rajinikanth has responded to these wishes and thanked his well-wishers. He wrote that he was grateful to everyone for supporting and wishing him, and making his day even more special.
“My heartfelt thanks to all my Political friends, film fraternity friends, sports world friends and media friends & well wishes for wishing me on my birthday,” he added.
Well, these are some sweet words and are bound to create a buzz amongst fans. On a related note, this is a busy time for Rajini. At present, he has two major films in his kitty—‘2.0’ and ‘Kaala’. ‘2.0’ is a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by S Shankar. A sequel to ‘Enthiran’, it will see him reprise his Chitti character from the first part and will hit screens in 2018. Besides the superstar, it also has Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead. Akki will be playing a character named Dr Richard in what is the first Tamil film of his career. Sometime ago, it was revealed that his voice was technologically altered to make it more menacing.
“Aided by Resul Pookutty, Akshay carefully modulated his voice. Resul worked on technically modifying Akshay’s voice using the state-of-the-art technologies for the film. Previously, Amitabh Bachchan had attempted to work on his voice, in the days of low technical expertise for Agneepath, over two and a half decades ago,” a source had told a leading daily.
Interestingly, the audio launch of ‘2.0’ was held in October and proved to be a star-studded event. At the event, Akki had said that Bollywood has a lot to learn from its Tamil counterpart.
“I have done 130 films (in Bollywood). ‘2.0′ was my 131st film. I can only say that during the making of those 130 films, I got to learn little from every film, but I was learning throughout the shooting of this film. There’s a lot that we have to learn from South because the way they work, we have to understand a lot now. They work in unity and respect each other’s talent, we have to learn that,” he had added.
Similarly, Rajini too had spoken at the event and reflected upon his journey in K-town.
“I don’t even remember how these 40 years passed. It still feels like 4-5 years. If not for god’s grace and the love of my fans, I wouldn’t have come this far. These 40 years have taught me that fame and money only bring minimum happiness. When people ask me is it difficult to be Rajinikanth, I tell them it’s only possible because of my faith in the almighty,” Rajini had said.
He had also urged fans to refrain from spewing venom against films on the social media.
“Support good films and encourage good talent. If you don’t like a film, please avoid spreading negativity through social media,” he had said.
As far as ‘Kaala’ is concerned, it is a crime-drama and will see ‘Thalaivaa’ essay the role of a gangster. A Pa Ranjith directorial, it is a Dhanush production and will arrive in theatres after ‘2.0’. Besides Thalaivaa, it also has Huma Qureshi in the lead. A while ago, she had told a daily that he is humility personified.
“It’s an amazing experience to work with Rajinikanth. When he walks, everybody becomes silent and make space for him. For me, the most beautiful thing with him is the simplicity he carries. He is such a humble person. I have never seen a superstar who is so humble, who is so simple and down-to-earth,” she had added.
So, are you looking forward to these films? Comments, please!
