Superstar Rajinikanth’s wife Latha Rajinikanth, as we all know, was pulled up by the Supreme Court last week for failing to ensure repayment. In the Kochadaiiyaan payment row, the Supreme Court had ordered Latha Rajinikanth to settle the dues owed by her company Mediaone Global to a Bangalore based company named Ad-Bureau Advertising. The court had given Mediaone Global a twelve-week time to settle the dues which were eventually not taken care of by the Latha Rajinikanth owned company. The court pulled up Latha Rajinikanth in the case and has asked to face the trail in it.
Now, according to latest reports, Justice Ranjan Gogoi has set aside a Karnataka High Court decision of 2016 to quash criminal proceedings against Latha. The Supreme Court on Tuesday said investigations will be made into the case and Latha Rajinikanth has to face the trial.
Times Of India quote, Justice Ranjan Gogoi saying, “This is a case which should have gone for trial. You (Latha) can apply for discharge at an appropriate stage.”
According to media reports, Latha Rajinikanth is one of the Directors of the Mediaone Global Entertainment that had taken Rs 14.90 crore loan from Bengaluru-based Ad-Bureau Advertising to finish post-production work of Rajanikanth-Deepika Padukone starrer film Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya. The company defaulted on payment and Rs. 6.2 crore remained pending that she owed to a movie distribution company for the post-production work of Tamil film.
On February 20, the Supreme Court said if the firm Mediaone Global Entertainment, a company in which Latha is a director does not pay the dues to Ad-Bureau Advertising within three months, Latha would have to pay the amount as per her undertaking. Latha Rajnikanth assured in February that she will clear the due but failed to do so. She was then pulled up by the Supreme Court last week for failing to ensure repayment.
