During a recent interaction with a leading website, filmmaker Raju Sundaram opened up about directing Ajith Kumar in ‘Aegan’ and said that they tried to incorporate quite a few unique dramatic/dance sequences into the narrative.

“When it comes to Aegan, we tried to have unique song sequences, one with more drama and one a period set up. We wanted to present something different to the audience,” he said.

Interestingly, ‘Aegan’ was a remake of the Hindi film ‘Main Hoon Na’. In it, Ajith essayed the role played by Shah Rukh Khan in the original. Opening up about asking Thala to star in a remake, Raju said that Ajith had once expressed a desire to star in such a film. As such, ‘Aegan’ was actually his idea.

“Ajith told me that let us do a Main Hoon Na type film. So that was his idea. I was not nervous at all. I got the opportunity, so I did it,” he said.

In case you did not know, ‘Aegan’ was touted to be an action film and revolved around a CBI officer who tries to arrest a dreaded terrorist. Besides Ajith, it featured Nayanthara in the lead.  It hit the screens in 2008 and received unfavourable reviews upon release.

On a related note, Ajith is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Vivegam’. Touted to be a spy-thriller, it features him in a brand new avatar. The film has already created quite a buzz amongst fans because of the catchy ‘Surviva’ track as well as its gripping teaser. Besides Thala, it also features Kajal Aggarwal in the lead.
