During a press meet that was held yesterday in Dubai, noted director S Shankar opened up about why Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger could not be a part of his magnum opus ‘2.0’. While talking on the issue, he said that they had approached the much-loved ‘Terminator’ to play the antagonist opposite Rajinikanth as ‘2.0’ is almost like a Hollywood film, however, things did not work out as there were some problems while drawing up the contract.

“2.0 will be like a Hollywood film; don’t assume that it is some sort of a Hollywood rip off (laughs). I mean, the format is like a Hollywood film. The message that the film talks about is a global one. Anyone belonging to any part of the world can connect with this script. That is why we tried to get Arnold Schwarzenegger on board. We approached him and he liked the script but at the time of the contract, things did not fall in place,” he added.

Well, we are sure that Bollywood star Akshay Kumar will prove to be an equally strong antagonist opposite Rajini in ‘2.0’. In case you did not know, ‘2.0’ is touted to be a sci-fi thriller and is a sequel to the 2010 release ‘Enthiran’. Besides Akki-Rajinikanth, it also features the lovely Amy Jackson in the lead. If all goes as planned, the film will hit screens in 2018.
