The much-anticipated sequel to actor Vikram’s 2003 Tamil action-drama “Saamy” will finally roll from later this month, a source said. Director Hari and Chiyaan Vikram will reunite for Saamy 2 after almost a decade. The project was supposed to go on the floors much earlier, however, due to Vikram’s other commitments it had to be deferred.
“The shoot will start from the last week of September. It’s a big-budget film and the team plans to wrap up the project without delay. After finishing the first schedule in the city, the shoot will shift to Delhi, Mussoorie and followed by Nepal,” a source from the film’s unit told a leading news agency.
Keerthy Suresh and Trisha are playing the leading ladies. Trisha, who was part of the first part, will be seen playing a lengthy role. “Trisha is not playing an extended cameo, contrary to rumours. Both the heroines have very important parts to play and their characters are crucial from the story’s perspective,” he said.
Vikram will return as the foul-mouthed, twirled moustache sporting police officer. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose the tunes. Commenting on the sequel, director Hari said, “We will definitely make it bigger. We’re reuniting after a decade and the expectations will be much higher.” Saamy 2 is being produced by Thameens Films.
Vikram is currently working on Sketch which also features Tamannaah Bhatia and Sri Priyanka is being directed by Vijay Chander. Vikram also has Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram shooting of which is currently underway in Istanbul.
