Sai Dhanshika: Playing a visually challenged role was surreal

After having played a key role in Kabali alongside Rajinikanth, actress Sai Dhanshika has been getting some great offers from all across. The actress’ choice of films has been offbeat and her roles have been unusual too. Dhanshika is now part of Tamil-Malayalam bilingual film Solo which features Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. The actress plays the role of a visually challenged dancer in the film and says it was very tough for her to play that role.

Speaking to a leading daily, the actress revealed how she trained to get the body language right and what steps she had to take for her role.” I had a great time shooting with Bejoy. It was quite a learning experience. Dulquer and I were shooting for our portions simultaneously in both the languages. Since I am not familiar with Malayalam, Dulquer helped me a lot with the lines. Subathra, who had worked with us in Kabali, coached me to play the visually challenged girl. I was taught how a visually challenged person would talk, walk and feel the things around her. I even climbed up the stairs blindfolded to get the body language right. It was such a surreal experience,” said Dhanshika.

Solo is being directed by Bejoy Nambiar who has made few films in Bollywood too. Dhanshika also has a song in the film to which she had to dance. Talking about it, the Kabali actress said,” The dance rehearsals happened much before, and I picked up the freestyle, contemporary moves pretty quickly. I finished shooting for the film in Kochi, and am looking forward to its release.”
