There can be no denying that 2017 was a terrific year for the lovely Samantha Akkineni. In October, she tied the knot with actor Naga Chaitanya and began a new chapter. Shortly after that, she received praise for her performance in ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’. Also featuring her FIL/veteran actor Nagarjuna in the lead, it did well at the box office and received rave reviews along the way. Just a few days after the release of ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’, ‘Mersal’ hit screens and set the box office on fire. In the Atlee directorial, she was seen alongside superstar Vijay and delivered a sincere performance.
Now, it seems that 2018 will be an equally eventful year for the bubbly beauty. In an exciting development, Sam just took to Twitter and confirmed that she will be playing the lead role in the Tamil/Telugu remake of the Kannada hit ‘U Turn’. She also confirmed that, just like the original version, the remake too will be helmed by Pawan Kumar.
“2018 ️Everything I want !! Shoot begins in Feb for @pawanfilms #Uturn #Tamil and #Telugu , produced by Srinivasaa silver screen . Thankyou always for your support,” she stated.
Well, we are happy for Sam and wish her good luck. On a related note, this is a busy time for the actress. She will soon be seen in the action-thriller ‘Irumbu Thirai’. The film has been directed by PS Mithran and will see her star opposite Vishal. Sometime ago, she had said that IT will be the best performance of Vishal’s career.
Besides ‘Irumbu Thirai’, she also has ‘Rangasthalam’ and ‘Mahanati’ in her kitty. ‘Rangasthalam’ is a romantic-drama and has been directed by Sukumar. On the other hand, ‘Mahanati’ is based on the life of actress Savitri and will see Sam play a pivotal character. It features Keerthy Suresh in the main role.
