Sangamithra, a period drama film, was in the news recently after Shruti Haasan opted out of the film for not having received a bound script for the film, according to an official statement from the spokesperson of the actress. Being produced by Sri Thenandal Films, Sangamithra is being directed by Sundar C and features Jayam Ravi and Arya in lead roles. The makers are now on the lookout for an actress to play the female lead in Sangamithra as the warrior princess.
Hema Rukmani, CEO of Sri Thenandal Films, spoke to a leading tabloid and revealed details about the leading lady for Sangamithra. “We have found a replacement for Shruti and we are waiting for the right time to announce it,” said Hema.
Speaking about Shruti’s withdrawal from the film, Hema said that it was a professional decision. “She (Shruti) did not opt out. We decided that we could not work together. It is very professional decision and we wish her fell. But it’s just that we had to part ways,” added Hema Rukmani.
Throwing light on if Nayanthara would be playing the lead role in Sangamithra, Hema says,”” We have worked with Nayan before and she is an amazing artist. As ‘Sangamithra’, we all have read the script, at least I have. I know what a dream it would be to do that role. We have an image of Sangamithra in our minds and we are sure we will find the right replacement immediately.”
Talking about the allegations on the script not being ready for Sangamithra, Hema said the script has been ready for a long time. “The script has been ready for months now. And if there is any fine tuning I think, till you go to the shoot fine tuning goes on,” says Hema Rukmani.
