Shalini has become a household name and one of the most sought-after heroines down south. She made her debut as an actress with Arjun Reddy, which was a massive success. Since then, there has been no looking back. The actress went on to bag plenty of films. Shalini Pandey, who will be making her Tamil debut this year with two films, for the first time speaks her heart out about her passion for being an actor and more.
Shalini opened her heart out and revealed how she always dreamt of being an actor. She also shares her first theatre going memory. “Ever since I was a child, I have dreamt of being an actor. What really fascinated me about acting was the role-playing — you can play different characters and be different people. I used to watch every film that was aired on TV. My first theatre-going memory is of going to see Chachi 420, and that’s one of the reasons why I love Kamal Haasan sir. As a child, I was fascinated with seeing movies on the big screen, and wished to see myself on it some day. As I grew up, I had various artistes like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi, who inspired me in some way,” Times Of India quoted the actress.
Shalini Pandey made an interesting confession that how Arjun Reddy was a sheer luck. She revealed, “I was finishing my course and was part of a group where we get to hear about auditions happening in Bollywood. So, this Mumbai coordinator had asked for my pictures one day and sent them to a coordinator in the south. And the next thing, I got a call from Sandeep Vanga’s (director of Arjun Reddy) team. I was told that they had seen audition tapes of over 300 girls. But Sandeep said I will be apt for the role of Preethi after seeing my pictures. I met him in Hyderabad, heard the story and signed the contract in three days. It all happened in a flash. Wasn’t this luck.”
Shalini also spoke about living with her two best friends who happen to be boys, when she was a struggling actor. “They have been writing ‘I lived-in with two boys’, had ‘heartbreaks’ and what not! My statement had been misinterpreted, and how! I didn’t go through any heartbreak, nor did I have any problem staying with my friends. Just like how you have your girl gang, I had friends who were boys. I don’t understand why there is so much hullabaloo,” she cleared the rumour about her sharing a house with boys.
On the professional front, Shalini Pandey, who won accolades for her portrayal of Preeti in Arjun Reddy, has signed her third Telugu film.
