Shruti Haasan: Scoring music for films takes the Mickey out of you

Shruti Haasan is not just a talented actress but a gifted musician as well. And, she has previously composed music for ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’. During a recent chat with a leading daily, the 31-year-old star opened up about her love for music and said that she prefers performing live over composing for films.  Shruti went on to add that composing for films is a good experience but is quite taxing.

“I think that the Indian music in films is going through a beautiful transition, as people are doing individual tracks, almost like an OST, which is amazing. I could collaborate and do something. I loved scoring for a film, but it takes the Mickey out of you. Then I made a choice and decided I’d rather spend the time performing live. I miss performing live and that’s something I want to get back to doing,” added the actress.

Well, we are happy to know about Shruti’s love for live performances and hope that she is able to grow further as a musician.  On the work front, she was last seen in the Hindi film ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ which underperformed at the box office. At present, she has ‘Sabash Naidu’ and the Hindi film ‘Yaara’ in her kitty.  ‘Sabash’ Naidu’ is a spy-comedy and also features her dad/veteran actor Kamal Haasan in the lead. The supporting cast comprises names such as Ramya Krishnan and Vir Das. On the other hand, ‘Yaara’ is a friendship drama and also has Vidyut Jamwal in the lead.

So, are you looking forward to Shruti’s upcoming films? Comments, please!
