After the makers of Sangamithra, Sri Thenandal Films, released an official statement that Shruti Haasan will not be a part of Sangamithra, Shruti Haasan too gave her version of the story. Shruti opted out because of not receiving a bound script and the makers haven’t yet responded to that news. What remains unclear so far is who would replace Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra. A lot of top stars’ names are doing rounds in film circles for this role of a warrior princess in Sangamithra, however, none of them is confirmed yet.
Despite parting ways from Sangamithra, Shruti Haasan still says that the film will be a fantastic project. Speaking to the media during the promotions of her Bollywood film Behen Hogi Teri, Shruti said,” It is a project that I am no longer a part of so, I wouldn’t like to elaborate on it further. I like to have a firm and clear idea of a script and a character – that’s how I work. And if that doesn’t happen, then I move on to the next things. But, I wish the team all the very best. I am sure it is going to be fantastic.”
Rumours are also doing rounds that Nayanthara might be the front-runner for this role because of her experience in the industry. The makers have remained tight-lipped about this, however.
Sangamithra is a period war film which is set in the Eight Century AD and Shruti Haasan was to play the role of warrior princess Sangamithra.
