2017 Telugu blockbuster hit Arjun Reddy is being remade in Tamil and will be the launchpad for Dhruv Vikram, son of Tamil top star Chiyaan Vikram. The remake has been titled Varma and will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Bala. The shooting of the film began recently and a schedule in Nepal was wrapped up recently. The makers are yet to announce the rest of the cast, besides Dhruv Vikram, including the female lead actor which was played by Shalini Pandey in the original. However, latest reports reveal that the makers may have signed on Shriya Sharma to play the lead role. Shriya Sharma is the child actor in Suriya, Jyothika and Bhumika starrer Sillunu Oru Kadhal. However, these reports of Shriya Sharma being signed on are yet to be confirmed by the makers.
Shriya Sharma has already made her debut as lead actor in Telugu with Nirmala Convent which starred Roshan, son of Telugu actor Srikanth. Also starring Akkineni Nagarjuna in a guest role, Nirmala convent had a decent run at the box office.
Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, will mark the debut of Dhruv Vikram in films. Varma is being produced by E4 Entertainments and will have dialogues by Raja Murugan, a National Award winning writer. Reportedly, the makers recently canned a sequence in Chennai which had Dhruv in it.
Besides Tamil, Arjun Reddy is also being remade in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. The Bollywood remake of Arjun Reddy is yet to be titled and will be directed by the original director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Arjun Reddy was one of the biggest path-breaking films in Tollywood in 2017 and amplified the stardom of lead actor Vijay Deverakonda. Arjun Reddy was also the first movie for director Sandeep Vanga and female lead actor Shalini Pandey.
