It’s no secret that 2017 was a bad year for Simbu. His highly ambitious Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan bombed at the box office and failed to impress critics. To make matters worse, after its release, its producer accused STR of unprofessional behaviour and claimed to have suffered financial losses because of him.
“After he was formally signed for the project, he hardly turned up for any discussion. Shooting was impossible for he hardly turned up. On many occasions, we had to pack up for the day without even canning a single shot. Though we paid him the remuneration, he never honoured his commitment. He would turn up at the end of the day with some excuse,” the producer had added.
Responding to these claims, the young star had said that no one could stop him from entertaining fans.
“It should have been a 1 part film but due to the budget issue, we had to make it a 2 part film. There have been issues but what bothered me was that the producer could have told me about it rather than blowing up the issue after 6 months You can stop me from acting, but you cannot stop me from entertaining my fans,” STR had added.
With 2017 behind him, STR is currently working on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. The film is a Mani Ratnam directorial and will sport a new look on the big screen. Now, there is some good news for his well-wishers. According to a leading daily, STR may soon collaborate with filmmaker Rathina Siva for a film. A pic of the two has been doing the rounds and it has led to this speculation.
On being contacted for clarification, the Rekka filmmaker said that nothing has been finalised yet,.
“I am still waiting for STR’s confirmation. It was only a friendly meeting with annan. Waiting to rock with my Thalaivan,” he added.
We will just have to wait and watch if this works out.
