During a recent chat with IANS, filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth expressed her views on the nepotism controversy that has become a talking point in the film industry and made a strong statement. She said that, at the end of the day, it is one’s talent that matters.
“At the end of the day, talent is what is going to last and is going to speak loud… No matter which family you are coming from or no matter what background you come from, if you are not talented, people are not going to accept you,” added Soundarya.
She went on to add that, contrary to popular perception, star-kids actually have their work cut out for them as people have high expectations from them.
“With star children there is extra pressure because there is so much of expectation from us that if we fall than coming back up is all the more difficult,” she added.
Well, we must say that these strong statements could go a long way in adding a new dimension to this debate.
In case you did not know, the nepotism controversy erupted, this February, when Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut accused filmmaker Karan Johar of being ‘intolerant’ to outsiders.
On a related note, this is a busy time for Soundarya. She is currently gearing up for the release of ‘VIP 2’. It is her second directorial venture and will hit screens in August. An action-comedy, ‘VIP 2’ features Dhanush and Kajol in the lead.
