Actress Jyothika is one of the few actresses in South Indian film industry who has continued working post marriage. The actress took a long break post her wedding with actor Suriya and came back to the silver screen with 36 Vayadhinile in 2015 that fetched her Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil. Jyothika is now working on her upcoming film titled Magalir Mattum which is directed by Bramma. The film is being produced by her husband Suriya himself.
The audio tracks of the Magalir Mattum were released today in Chennai amidst much fanfare. Speaking about the film actress Jyothika said that she couldn’t have done Mahalir Mattum without the support of her family and thanked her husband Suriya and father-in-law legendary actor Sivakumar for the immense support. The actress added that it is very important directors of today’s generation show women in powerful roles and respect them for what they are. Jyothika also praised director Bramma for the prominence he has given to women in Magalir Mattum.
Actor-Producer Suriya spoke a few words and said, “I would like to thank Kamal Haasan sir for giving us the title. He sent an email confirming this and said that he trusts that we would do justice to the title. It is a great gesture from such a legendary actor and we hope we have done justice to the title.” Magalir Mattum is also the title of a film produced by Kamal Haasan which released in 1994. Directed by Singeetham Srinivas Rao, the film featured Revathy, Urvashi, Rohini and Nassar in key roles. The film also starred Kamal Haasan in a cameo. This 2017 film, Magalir Mattum, features Jyothika, Bhanu Priya, Urvashi and Saranya Ponvannan.
