After the phenomenal success of the Telugu film Pellichoopulu, makers from other film industries looked to get the rights for the remake of the film but not many could succeed. But Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon bagged the rights of Pellichoopulu and has decided to remake it in Tamil with Tamannaah Bhatia and Vishnu Vishal in the lead roles.
The remake has been titled Pon Ondru Kandein and will be directed by Gautham Menon’s close associate for a long time, Senthil Veerasamy marking his debut as a director. According to sources, the pre-production works of the film are underway and the makers are aiming at starting the shooting by end of August.
“The pre-production work is currently underway and the team is planning to commence shooting by the end of August. Earlier, the film was supposed to go on floors in July, but it got pushed to August due to several reasons. The team is finalising the rest of the cast,” a source close to the unit was quoted in a leading daily.
The cinematography of Pon Ondru Kandein will be handled by SR Kathir while the music will be composed by Darbuka Siva. Editor Praveen Antony has been roped in to call the final cuts for the film.
Tamannaah is currently with busy with her projects in Bollywood and Telugu. In Telugu, Tamannaah is working on a yet to be titled film with Sundeep Kishan which is being directed by Bollywood filmmaker Kunal Kohli. Besides this, Tamannaah also has a Bollywood project which is a remake of Nayanthara starrer Kolaiyuthir Kaalam.
