Tamil remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu titled Kaatrin Mozhi; To release in October

That 2017 Bollywood release Tumhari Sulu is being remade in Tamil is something we all know. To be directed by Radha Mohan, the remake will star Jyothika in the lead role and actor Vitharth will be seen playing her husband in the film. The shooting of the film is yet to go on floors and currently is in pre-production stage. And according to latest development, the Tamil remake of Tumhari Sulu gets a title and a release date. The film has been titled Kaatrin Mozhi and will be released in October this year, announced the makers today releasing the title poster. Coincidentally, Kaatrin Mozhi is a song from Radha Mohan’s Mozhi which also starred Jyothika along with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Prakash Raj in lead roles. The music of Mozhi was composed by Vidyasagar and had Jyothika playing a hearing impaired and mute role, which brought her great acclaim. Kaatrin Mozhi song was a super hit number and remains as one of the best songs in Tamil cinema.

Kaatrin Mozhi will also star Telugu actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu too and will be seen reprising the role played by Neha Dhupia in the original. The announcement about the Tamil remake of Tumahri Sulu was made recently and the shooting of the film is expected to begin sometime in May this year.

Tumhari Sulu was one of the biggest releases in Bollywood last year and it was expected that the film will receive an overwhelming response. Upon release, the film fared decently at the box office and could not live up to the expectations of the audience. With the Tamil remake, Kaatrin Mozhi, in pipeline, Tamil audience will hope that the makers will make changes in the screenplay or script which will appeal to the local audience and turn out to be a hit film.

Jyothika was last seen in Naachiyar which was directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Bala and the actor’s role was one of the most raw ones she had ever done in the past.
