If you are a fan of Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone, then gear up to rejoice as we have some awesome news in store for you. In an exciting development, her eagerly-awaited ‘Padmaavat’ is all set to release in Tamil in order to reach a wider audience. Now, the makers of this magnum opus have released its Tamil trailer and made the wait for it even more difficult. The trailer is quite grand and connects with the viewer courtesy its grand visuals alone. This is a classic case of art transcending the language barrier.
In case you did not know, ‘Padmaavat’ has been directed by noted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and features DP in the role of a Rajput queen. Besides Deepika, it also has Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead. As it so happens, ‘Padmaavat’ has been embroiled in one controversy after the other right from the word go. Several groups have objected to it for ‘distorting’ history. To make matters worse, some groups even issued death threats to the actress. Commenting on the controversy, Kannada star Upendra had said that wrecking a system is not the right way to deal with the problem.
“We have a system. If we wreck it, what will our society become? There are certain rules to follow and we also have a Censor Board. I’m not saying don’t protest against something you don’t like. You can protest (peacefully), call the director and speak with him,” he had added.
Similarly, actress Raai Laxmi too had condemned the threats issued to Deepika and called them unacceptable.
“I don’t know what the film is all about and I cannot comment on it. But all said and done, harassing and life-threatening an actress (Deepika Padukone) is unfair because she is an actress who acts a role and is paid for her job,” she had added.
Interestingly, ‘Padmaavat’ will hit screens on January 25 just a day before Anushka Shetty starrer ‘Bhaagamathie’.
