Single screen theatres across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka are bracing for Thala Ajith’s highly-anticipated film Vivegam, which is set to be released in cinemas across the globe on 24th August. In fact, media reports claim that the Ajith-starrer will hit as many as 3,000 screens worldwide upon its release. With that said, the excitement around the movie is such that it has even taken over advance booking windows – an occurrence which can also be attributed to the fact that Vivegam will hit the theatres with virtually no rival, at least none as big.
Talking about the film’s reach in India – Vivegam will make its way to nearly 800 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. However, it is Kerala that will serve as the biggest launch of the Southern superstar’s career – a feat achieved due to the concerted efforts of Pulimurugan’s producer – Tomichan Mulakuppadam.
Tomichan, who acquired distribution rights for the film for a record Rs. 4.25 crore, has landed 300 screens for the film in Kerala, making it only the third film after Kabali and Baahubali: The Conclusion to hit as many screens in Kerala. It may also interest you to know that Vivegam will have more than 1,000 shows on the opening day in Kerala. Moving on, Vivegam will also hit over 200 screens in Karnataka and reportedly a total of 450 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Its screen count outside India includes 700 in Malaysia, making it the biggest opening for an Ajith-starrer film in the country, and another 160 in the US. Vivegam will also be released in other global markets, including the United Arab Emirates.
