Trailer of Swathi Kolai Vazhakku reveals interesting aspects of the Chennai techie’s incident

An incident in 2016 shook the city of Chennai when a techie of a major IT company was hacked to death by her stalker at a railway station. The case turned mysterious after the attacker tried to kill himself by slitting his throat when the cops chased him down to arrest him. A film is now being on the whole incident and the trailer was released by the makers. Titled Swathi Kolai Vazhakku, the film is being directed by Ramesh Selvan who earlier directed Vajram.

Speaking to a leading daily, Ramesh said, “All my films have dealt with social issues and have created awareness. This one, too, will spark some awareness among the audience. We have retained the subject to what exactly happened and have reported on the case. There will be neither songs nor any sequence that deviates from the incident.

Ramesh also says that these kinds of incidents can be avoided by taking few steps with the help of technology. “It is only recently that they installed CCTV cameras at Nungambakkam Railway Station, where the crime was committed. We have highlighted a few things that could be done to avoid such gruesome incidents in future,” says Ramesh Selvan.

The lead roles are being played by Arya and Mano while the story is written by RB Ravi. Actor Ajmal will play the role of the investigating officer of the case. Talking about how they started shooting for the film, Ramesh added, “We went by the news reports and shot the film in the locations where the crime was committed, like the railway station, the mansion in which Ramkumar had stayed, and so on. Once the film is ready, we will screen it for both Swathi and Ramkumar’s parents, probably by the end of June, and only then release it.
