“If DMK chief M Karunanidhi was alive today, actors like me would not have to talk about religious fanaticism and divisive politics,” said actor Prakash Raj.
On the other hand, actor Sathyaraj said, “You can call MK Stalin working president of the party till August 28. After that, he would become the party chief.”
M.K Stalin was elected president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday at the party’s General Council meeting. M K Stalin visited Karunanidhi’s memorial at Marina beach after the party’s General Council meeting. Stalin addressed the General Council and in his first speech since being elected DMK president, Stalin said that the political atmosphere in the country today is a “grave challenge” as education, art, literature and religion are under attack by communal forces. He added, “All this has dealt a blow to the secular principles,” Stalin is quoted as saying by ANI.
