Actor Vijay Sethupathi is one of the few South Indian actors who takes the risk of experimenting with subjects and picking up offbeat scripts. Known for his roles in films like Pizza and Vikram Vedha, Vijay Sethupathi has quite a few films lined up this year not just in Tamil, but one big release in Telugu too which is Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy alongside Megastar Chiranjeevi. Vijay’s first release of the year will be ‘Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren’ which also stars Gautham Karthik, Niharika Konidela and Gayathrie. Vijay says that the film will have a unique narration and each character has distinct features. “I play a thief who’s referred to as an ‘organic thirudan’. He’s someone who steals without hurting or affecting anyone. I’m a tribal leader of a group that has its own rules. For instance, we always treat women with respect. Despite being thieves, we make sure that we share what we get. It may sound too serious, but it’s a jolly, fun film,” Vijay was quoted as saying by New Indian Express while speaking of his role in ‘Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren’.
Speaking about young actor Gautham Karthik, Vijay Sethupathi says that he has tons of talent and will go a long way. “He has a lot of passion and I know he’s going to go places. Some actors impress me with their acting, but Gautham also impressed me with his disposition. There were instances when I went to the sets slightly late, but he was always on time,” says Vijay.
Speaking about the genre he chooses for his films, he says that he is only keen on entertaining and not limited to anything. “Whatever genre it is, I’m only keen that it be entertaining. What we try to communicate with the story should reach those who are seeing it. People have a lot of personal troubles,” says the Vikram Vedha actor.
Speaking about the number of releases he has this year, Vijay says he doesn’t plan and intend to do so and just follows his instinct. “I just go with my instinct. I don’t have a set target. I do what I do happily. I don’t have too much time on hand, yes, but films excite me and they clear my mind. When the mind is happy, the body works wonders,” says Vijay.
