Actor Vijay Sethupathi is riding high on the success of his last release, Vikram Vedha, which also featured R. Madhavan in other lead role. Vijay Setupathi now has quite a few interesting films under his belt which include a film with Mani Ratnam, Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy in Telugu alongside Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Karuppan which is slated to be released this Friday. Karuppan has Vijay Sethupathi playing the role of a bull tamer and has a slight connection with Jalikattu. Interacting with the media ahead of the release of Karuppan, Vijay Sethupathi speaks about why content is important in a film and actors foraying into politics.

A film will run only if the content is good and I strongly believe that no movie will run for its lead hero. May be the actor’s fans might enjoy the first day’s first show or the first 10 minutes, beyond that it all depends how the subject is narrated in a convincing manner,” said Vijay Sethupathi.

Speaking about Karuppan, which is directed by Pannerselvam, Vijay says, “The film has a nativity subject and I don’t fear as to how people would accept me in this, as they accepted Vikram Vedha.  I love my mother tongue Tamil and its culture, and we should strive to be pro-active about promoting it.

Speaking about stars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan venturing into politics, Vijay Sethupathi said, “If you ask whether actors can enter politics, my answer is why not? Not only Rajini or Kamal, anyone who wants to work for the welfare of the people can come to politics.
