Actor Vishal too the South Indian film fraternity by surprise when he decided to contest in the upcoming elections from the RK Nagar constituency. Vishal filed his nomination as an independent candidate from RK Nagar yesterday in Chennai and a lot is being speculated about his decision to contest in the polls. Vishal had said that he can’t be sitting and watching, and instead would want to do something for people of Tamil Nadu who deserve a lot more than what is being done for them. Vishal had also said that he draws inspiration from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and India’s former Presidnt Late APJ Abdul Kalam.
Vishal also has become very active on social media and has been responding to tweets about his decision to contest in the polls. When Arvind Kejriwal tweeted welcoming Vishal’s decision to contest, Vishal replied to it saying – “Thank U very much @ArvindKejriwal Sir. The Change is inevitable & more youngsters must join Politics to make our Country a global powerhouse. #YoungstersAreTheFuture “

Vishal is also the President of Tamil Film Producers’ Council and the General Secretary of Nadigar Sangham, and many film personalities seem to have an issue with him now entering politics besides holding these posts. Filmmaker Cheran had expressed displeasure over Vishal contesting in the polls and demanded that Vishal should resign from his current post as President of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council. Cheran stated that Vishal had misused the funds of the TFPC and he owes an explanation to it. Vishal, however, hasn’t yet responded to these allegations.
