Actor Vishal has been in the news of late for a variety of reasons. In October, he received favourable reviews for his gripping performance in the crime-thriller ‘Villain’ and gave strong proof of his abilities as an actor. In the B Unnikrishnan directorial, he played a negative role and worked alongside Mollywood legend Mohanlal. Talking about working with ‘Lalettan’, he said that that was a ‘surreal’ experience for him.
“Face to face with him, the intense dialogues and the off-screen experience, it was all surreal for me. He is an actor who emotes through his eyes, and very accommodating too. I have seen very few superstars who give so much scope for co-artists to perform and outscore. Hats off to him, for his maturity and dedication to the profession,” he had told a leading daily.
While things were fine for him on the professional front, he suffered a setback on the personal sides of things when his nomination papers of the RK Nagar bypoll were rejected amidst debatable circumstances. Addressing this controversy, he had said that the whole thing was pretty ‘unethical’ and ‘unjustified’. He had also promised that he would return to politics soon.
“I am obliged to inform the People of Tamil Nadu that I decided to Contest in R.K.Nagar By-Election on my own and without the influence of any Political Party or any individual whatsoever, but only with pure intentions to Serve the People from the bottom of my heart. The rejection of my nomination paper was totally unethical & unjustified and the events that followed are there for all the People of Tamil Nadu to see and understand that democracy has been buried to the ground. I thank all the good-hearted people in RK Nagar, across Tamilnadu and across India including the press, the police, the advocates, political leaders, my fans, friends, family and all well-wishers who supported me and stood by me. I will continue to serve the people and fight for democracy and will return to politics in full swing,” he had added.
With the controversy behind him, Vishal is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Irumbu Thirai’. The film is an action-thriller and has been directed by PS Mithran. In it, he will be seen alongside Samantha Akkineni. And, as expected, this fresh pairing has created quite a buzz amongst movie buffs. During a recent interaction with the media, Vishal spoke about working with Sam and said that she is a lovely person to work with.
“Rather than calling her a beautiful girl, I would say she is a lovely person. I feel like a college student when she is around. It’s nice to have a co-star like her! The romantic track in the film is crucial and is also a major plus,” he added.
Interestingly, besides Vishal-Samantha, ‘Irumbu Thirai’ also features Arjun in the lead. The ‘Action King’ will be seen playing a negative role in this one. Talking about acting with him, Vishal said that he was grateful to him for agreeing to be a part of the film.
“I don’t know what to say about Arjun sir, who agreed to be part of the film and I am immensely thankful to him. It has been a fantastic journey for me. More than the positives from the modern technology, we wanted to show the negative side of it through Irumbu Thirai. The last 20 minutes climax portions of the film will be fabulous,” he said.
Vishal also revisited the RK Nagar bypoll controversy and said that he was just doing what his ‘inner voice’ had told him.
Well, we wish Vishal good luck and hope that ‘Irumbu Thirai’ does well at the box office upon release.
On a related note, besides ‘Irumbu Thirai’, Vishal also has ‘Sandakozhi 2’ in his kitty. In it, he will be seen alongside the fast rising Keerthy Suresh. As far as Sam is concerned, she also has ‘Rangasthalam’ in her kitty.
