In the latest development of sorts, actor Vishal took to his Twitter page to announce that he will contest in the RK nagar by-poll election this year. Vishal’s plunge into politics is a surprise to many of fans and followers, and this announcement has got several raising eyebrows. Ever since the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the constituency has been vacant and will go to the polls on December 21. The actor will contest as an Independent candidate. Stating the reason for this decision, Vishal said, “I always wanted to do something for people, and was planning this for long.” He said RK Nagar is familiar to him since he worked there during the Chennai floods.
2017 has seen Tamil cinema’s most powerful actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan express their decision to enter politics, however, Vishal is probably the only actor to announce his decision without dropping any hints. Vishal, who is the president of the Tamil actors’ union Nadigar Sangam, will face E Madhusudhanan of AIADMK, the infamous AIADMK candidate T T V Dinakaran and DMK’s M Maruthuganesh. Vishal denied meeting senior actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth prior to taking to this decision.
Will Vishal win? Let’s wait and watch.
