Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai releases, tight police security outside cinema halls

The big release of this week, Irumbu Thirai has finally hit the screens today. Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai was one of the most anticipated films this week. Touted to be a cyber-crime thriller, it has Samantha playing the female lead and has Arjun as the antagonist. Directed by Mithran, Irumbu Thirai has released in Tamil and Telugu.

However, the film did not witness a smooth release. A petitioner named Natarajan, had alleged that the film portrayed ‘Aadhaar’ in a bad light after watching the film’s trailer. But the film got a green signal after the Madras High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed against the film. Despite getting clearance from the court, the film might have a difficult day today as fringe elements threaten to disrupt the screening of the film in theatres today. Due to this, police security has been tightened up outside the theatres in Chennai.

Interestingly, a plea on similar grounds was filed against Vijay’s Mersal and it kicked-up controversy post its release due to a GST (Goods and Services Tax) scene in the film.

Talking about the film, Irumbu Thirai brings Vishal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu together for the first time, which is one of the highlights of the film. The film also stars Arjun Sarja in a pivotal role, with Delhi Ganesh, Robo Shankar and Vincent Ashokan forming the rest of the cast. The film marks Vishal’s first collaboration with Action King Arjun, who plays the antagonist.

Recently, Vishal had arranged a special screening for selective members of the press. The first half of the screening had received a gripping response. Let’s wait and watch how audience reviews the film today.
