After 30 years in Indian cinema, a silent film being made in Indian cinema which is titled Mercury and stars Prabhudheva in the lead role. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Mercury will not have any dialogues in it and will be releasing in multiple languages. The film is termed to be a silent thriller since there are now dialogues in it and will genuinely be based on the sounds and visuals in the narrative. The makers of Mercury have now unveiled the trailer of the film and as expected, it sends down chills down your spine. During a recent interaction with PINKVILLA, director Karthik Subbaraj had said that noone else could have played this role except Prabhudheva. “This character is sort of unique. I didn’t have anybody in mind while writing it. But I needed someone whose casting itself sounds unique and that’s when I thought why not cast Prabhudheva sir because he has not done anything this sort before,” told us in an exclusive interaction. Speaking about the film, the young director says,”This film is a thriller genre with no dialogues. There are some challenges that need to be corrected; the performance and the technicality need to be taken care of, like the visuals, sound, the music, and editing. And obviously, the first thing that comes is performance. All the actors including Prabhudheva sir have done great performances.”

Prabhudheva, on the other hand, says that he agreed to do the film because of Karthik Subbaraj. “I said yes because of the director, Karthik Subbaraj. He is the only one who made me take it. In the first meeting itself, I immediately said yes,” said Prabhudheva while speaking with PINKVILLA about Mercury.
