The very favourite choreographer, producer, actor and director- Prabhu Deva, who is a man of many hats, has always impressed his fans with his versatility. Prabhu Deva was recently seen in a horror thriller film, Mercury. However, the film received decent reviews. Prabhu Deva, who recently visited Kochi, spoke about his Malayalam films, directing a dance movie and much more.
In an interview with Times Of India, the choreographer, his debut in Mollywood in 2011 with epic Indian historical drama film Urumi, reveals why he is not doing any Mollywood films now. The daily quoted the talented man saying, “I have no idea why I am not doing Malayalam films. Urumi happened because of Santosh Sivan sir. Mollywood is a completely different world. I have seen films of both superstars and the young lot and they are all excellent. The making is so different and every movie is unique. I think it is very tough to either direct or act in Malayalam as the expectations and the standards are so high. Also, the language (is tough) too.”
During the same interview, Prabhu Deva was asked if you would like to remake Remo D’Souza’s Bollywood film- ABCD in Malayalam. To which the ‘Mercury’ actor reacted, “It is Remo’s baby. Do not think that just because I am a dancer, it will be easy for me. It is tough to a dance film and I have to be extremely careful when I think of making it in Malayalam.”
When he was asked if it is a big no for Malayalam? Prabhu Deva replied, “Never. It can happen anytime — maybe as an actor. But I do not want to come as a dancer cameo. That’s so cliched.”
Now let’s wait and watch if the choreographer-director makes his comeback in Mollywood or no.
