According to Indian Express, Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s ‘2.0’—which is slated to hit screens on January 25 2018—could get postponed to April in order to avoid a box office over the R-Day weekend with ‘Padman’. Talking about this, trade guru Ramesh Bala said that ‘2.0’ could be postponed to the summer of 2018 in order to make full use of the vacation period.
“The ideal release period looks like the summer vacation of 2018, which worked really well for Baahubali 2. They might look at using the vacation the most,” he added.
Ramesh Bala went on to add that delay in wrapping up 2.0’s VFX work too could be a reason for delaying its release.
“Looks like a delay with the VFX. The shooting has been done though with Amy Jackson recently wrapping up a song. Now that the Audio launch was successful, the news will not seem very negative. And also they’ll get more time to space out the teaser and trailer launch,” added the trade analyst.
Well, this is a developing situation and it will be worth watching what happens next. In case you did not know, ‘2.0’ is touted to be a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by S Shankar. In it, Akki will be playing the villain while Rajini will be seen playing the role of a robot. As far as ‘Padman’ is concerned, it is being directed by R Balki and is based on a short story written by Twinkle Khanna.
