During a recent interaction with a leading website, writer KV Vijayendra Prasad—who is best known for penning the ‘Baahubali’ franchise—revealed that he is currently writing a script for ‘Mudhalvan 2’. He went on to add that S Shankar may be roped in to helm the sequel. However, at the same time, he stressed that nothing is set in stone.
“I was approached by the makers of Nayak to write a sequel to Mudhalvan. I am working on the script right now. So at this moment, I am not sure on who is going to direct the film.I believe the producer is keen on roping in Shankar to direct it. May be once, he completes 2.0, the producer might approach him with this script, and if Shankar is interested, he will direct. But at this moment, nothing is confirmed,” he added.
Well, we must say that this is quite a revelation and could create a buzz amongst movie buffs.
In case you did not know, ‘Mudhalvan’ was a political-thriller and featured Arjun-Manisha Koirala in the lead. Released in 1999, it fared well at the box office and received reviews along the way. It was later on remade in Hindi as ‘Nayak’. The Hindi version featured Anil Kapoor in the lead and was directed by S Shankar himself. However, it could not live upto expectations.
On a related note, Shankar is currently busy with ‘2.0’ which is a sequel to the 2010 release ‘Enthiran’. It features Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead.
