One might get a feeling that Soundarya Rajinikanth, daughter of Tamil Super Star Rajinikanth, might not have utilised her potential to the fullest in terms of film-making and delivering commercial flicks. Whenever we watch a frame set by Soundarya, one does get a feeling that this filmmaker can certainly deliver lot more than this if the nativities were kept in mind. But all said and done, Soundarya Rajinikanth is certainly one of the promising filmmakers in Indian cinema given the kind of work she has done in the past.
Soundarya recently directed Vellai Illa Pattadhari 2 aka VIP 2 with Dhanush, Amala Paul and Kajol in the lead roles and the film received mixed responses from audience. While the Dhanush-loving group and the VIP-loving crowd were happy with what they got to watch onscreen, common Tamil movie-goers seemed a tad disappointed with the film. But overall, VIP 2 was a decent hit in Soundarya’s career.
Soundarya also had directed Kochadaiiyaan in the past with her father Rajinikanth and Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Kochadaiiyaan is India’s first photorealistic motion capture film, featuring characters whose designs were based on the appearance of lead actors Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone.
Besides these accomplishments, Soundarya has also worked as a graphic designer on many Tamil films, mostly Rajinikanth’s films, and has carved a niche for herself in South Indian film industry. Padayappa, Baba, Majaa, Sandakozhi, Chandramukhi, Chennai 600028 and Sivaji among many films are few that Soundarya Rajinikanth has worked on in the past.
Soundarya Rajinikanth turns a year older today and we take a look at few photos of the promising filmmaker which one would have rarely seen:
