In 2014, actress Kangana Ranaut became the toast of B-town when she delivered a ripping performance in ‘Queen’ and gave strong proof of her abilities as a performer. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the comedy-drama clicked with fans big time courtesy its relatable plot and effective performances. Now, three years later, Kajal Aggarwal is shooting for its eagerly-awaited Tamil remake in France. The film is being directed by actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind and is titled ‘Paris Paris’. Kajal is arguably one of the biggest names in Tamil cinema and has already worked with the biggest stars—right from Chiranjeevi to Vijay. As such, ‘Paris Paris’ could be the one release that helps her take her career to the next level.
Kangana had done a terrific job in the original and fans feel that ‘Paris Paris’ is bound to be compared to ‘Queen’. However, Kajal is not really worried about any such comparisons. Sometime ago, she had said that she is not worried about stepping into someone’s shoes and will approach the film in her own way.
“It’s a project very close to my heart. When I saw Queen, I told myself I’d love to adapt the film in some other language. We’d like to prove a point with this project. I’m not looking forward to filling in anyone’s shoes in this role. We are recreating the film in another language. I treat this as an original, in my own way,” she had said.
Interestingly, in a separate interview with a leading daily, Kajal had revealed that ‘Paris Paris’ is a difficult project for her character is completely different from her real-life personality.
“It’s going to be a big challenge for me to be that naive because my upbringing has been quite different. I’ve had a lot of exposure to the world, thanks to my family. And my friends, extended family have always been very supportive. For the character that I play in the film, she’s from a simple background who hasn’t seen the world yet,” she had told a leading website.
Well, we wish her good luck and hope that that ‘Pais Paris’ does well at the box office.
On a related note, Kajal has had a pretty good 2017 so far. She started off the year with ‘Qaidi No 15o’ which marked Chiranjeevi’s return to the big screen after a hiatus and did well at the box office. Thereafter, she impressed us with her act in ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri. The film was a political-thriller and saw her play the role of Rana Daggubati’s wife. Talking about the film, she had said that she enjoyed working with her mentor Teja again.
“This is indeed a very special film for several reasons. First and foremost, I have teamed up with my mentor Teja sir for the second time after a decade. It’s been a pleasure working with him (Teja) as he encourages me to unlearn the nuances I have picked up over a span of time,” she had told a news agency.
Thereafter, she was seen opposite Ajith in ‘Vivegam’ and delivered a solid performance. Talking about working with ‘Thala’, she had said that he is a warm person and treats his co-stars with respect.
“He is a warm person who is nice to everyone on the sets, right from the light boy to his co-actors. A spontaneous actor, his passion for cinema is seen in his reactions, which helps his co-actors. There is an aura of positivity around him. And, Ajith sir never interferes in the work of his co-actors but does give suggestions if he thinks it can enhance their performance,” she had added.
After striking gold with ‘Vivegam’ she added another hit to her career with ‘Mersal’. Released on Diwali, it also featured Vijay in the lead and did exceptionally well at the box office. An action-thriller, it also ran into trouble with the BJP because of a scene that made fun of the central government’s GST initiative/scheme. However, this could affect its dream run at the ticket window. Besides Kajal-Vijay, it also had Samantha Akkineni and Nithya Menen in the lead.
Well, we hope that 2018 turns out to be an equally good year for her . Oh, and here are some lovely pics of K-town’s resident ‘Queen’
