It is no secret that lady luck did not quite smile actor Simbu In 2017. His ambitious June release Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan turned out to be a major commercial failure and failed to impress critics. In fact, the response was so overwhelmingly negative that the makers were forced to drop its sequel. To make matters worse, shortly after that, the producer accused him of indiscipline and claimed to have lost money because of him.
“After he was formally signed for the project, he hardly turned up for any discussion. Shooting was impossible for he hardly turned up. On many occasions, we had to pack up for the day without even canning a single shot. Though we paid him the remuneration, he never honoured his commitment. He would turn up at the end of the day with some excuse,” the producer added.
Responding to these charges, he had said that no one could stop him from doing what he loves the most—entertaining his fans.
“It should have been a 1 part film but due to the budget issue, we had to make it a 2 part film. There have been issues but what bothered me was that the producer could have told me about it rather than blowing up the issue after 6 months You can stop me from acting, but you cannot stop me from entertaining my fans,” STR had added.
Now, with 2017 in the past, STR is gearing up to get his career back on track. In an exciting development, his latest pic is creating a buzz on the social media and that too for all the right reasons. In it, he can be seen in a fit new avatar that he carries off like a boss. His transformation truly is truly mindblowing. He will apparently be sporting this mean look in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. The film is a Mani Ratnam directorial an also features Arvind Swami in the lead.
