It is no secret that 2017 was not a good year for young star Simbu. His ambitious June release Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan turned out to be a dud at the box office and failed to impress critics. In fact, the response was so overwhelmingly negative that the makers were forced to cancel its sequel. To make matters worse, shortly after that the producer accused him of unprofessional behaviour and claimed to have suffered monetary losses because of him.

“After he was formally signed for the project, he hardly turned up for any discussion. Shooting was impossible for he hardly turned up. On many occasions, we had to pack up for the day without even canning a single shot. Though we paid him the remuneration, he never honoured his commitment. He would turn up at the end of the day with some excuse,” the producer added.

Responding to these allegations, STR had said that such negativity could not stop him from entertaining his fans.

“It should have been a 1 part film but due to the budget issue, we had to make it a 2 part film. There have been issues but what bothered me was that the producer could have told me about it rather than blowing up the issue after 6 months You can stop me from acting, but you cannot stop me from entertaining my fans,” STR had added.

With 2017 in the rearview, he is working on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. The film is a Mani Ratnam directorial and has created a buzz amongst fans. Now, it seems that the curiosity surrounding it is going to reach new heights. As it so happens, a still from the shoot location is going viral and making the wait for the film even more difficult. In it, STR can be seen discussing something with the director and seems to be in a serious mood. We wonder what the two were talking about.

So, are you looking forward to this one? Comments, please!
