It‘s no secret that Suriya is one of the most successful and bankable names in Tamil cinema today. During his eventful career, he has won the love of fans thanks to his effective performances, good looks and refined personality. Moreover, he is regarded as an inspiration by fans as he is a family man in the truest sense. Now, Suriya is in the limelight again. As it so happens, Suriya was spotted yesterday as he attended the late Sridevi’s prayer meet in Chennai and met her grieving family. As expected, he was accompanied by his wife/noted actor Jyotyhika and seemed to be in a sombre mood.
For the uninitiated, Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018 and left her fans in a state of shock. Initial reports indicated that he died because of a cardiac arrest; however, subsequent reports confirmed that her demise was caused due to accidental drowning. The moment the news broke, several stars took to Twitter and offered their condolences.
Commenting on her death, Jr NTR had termed it as an irreplaceable loss for the film world.
“She came. She saw. She conquered.And went back to the heavens from where she came. RIP Sridevi garu.IRREPLACEABLE,” he had tweeted.
Similarly, her Sadma co-star Kamal Haasan had said that he was heartbroken by her death.
“Have witnessed Sridevi’s life from an adolescent teenager to the magnificeint lady she became. Her stardom was well deserved. Many happy moments with her flash through my mind including the last time I met her. Sadma’s lullaby haunts me now. We’ll miss her,” he had said.
Fondly referred to as the ‘Last Empress’, Sridevi was an important part of South cinema for nearly 5 decades. Her most noteworthy films are Moondram Pirai, Bobbili Puli and Moondru Mudichu to name a few. She also conquered Bollywood and became its first female superstar. The star was last seen in MOM which did well at the box office and received rave reviews.
