The late Sridevi’s prayer meet was held in Chennai yesterday. And, not surprisingly, her husband Boney Kapoor as well as her daughters Janhvi- Khushi attended the event. The grieving family members paid their last respects to the lady who had been a pillar of support for them and prayed for the departed soul. Some close acquaintances too attended the meet and offered emotional support to the grieving family.
In case you did not know, Sri passed away on February 24. 2018 in Dubai and this left her fans heartbroken. While initial reports suggested that she died because of a cardiac arrest, later reports confirmed accidental drowning as the cause of her death.
Reacting to her sudden death, her close friend Kamal Haasan had said that he was pained by her death as he had seen her evolve as an actor.
“Have witnessed Sridevi’s life from an adolescent teenager to the magnificeint lady she became. Her stardom was well deserved. Many happy moments with her flash through my mind including the last time I met her. Sadma’s lullaby haunts me now. We’ll miss her,” he had said.
Similarly, Jr NTR had said that it was an irreplaceable loss for the industry.
“She came. She saw. She conquered.And went back to the heavens from where she came. RIP Sridevi garu.IRREPLACEABLE,” he had tweeted.
Fondly called the ‘Last Empress’, Sridevi was an integeral part of South cinema for nearly 5 decades. Her most notable films are Moondram Pirai, Bobbili Puli and Moondru Mudichu to name a few. She also conquered Bollywood and became its first female superstar. Her noteworthy Hindi films include Chandini, Mr. India and Lamhe to name a few. She was last seen in MOM. The film revolved around a hard-hitting topic and did well at the box office.
Sridevi truly will be missed!
