The late Sridevi’s prayer meet was held yesterday in Chennai. And, as expected, several big names from the film industry attended the event to meet the star’s grieving family. Some of the names in attendance included Karthi, AR Rahman and Latha Rajinikanth. Not surprisingly, the stars were in a somber mood and offered their condolences to the family. The celebs prayed for the departed soul and remembered the lady who truly was an integral part of the industry
Sridevi passed away in Dubai last month and this left a void in the film world. Initial reports suggested that her death was caused by a cardiac arrest, however, later reports clarified that it was caused because of accidental drowning.
Reacting to her untimely demise, her friend and Tamil star Rajinikanth had said that he was pained by her death.
“I’m shocked and very disturbed. I’ve lost a dear friend and the industry has lost a true legend. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I feel the pain with them #RIPSridev … you will be missed,” he had added.
Similarly, veteran actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan had said that he was heartbroken by her demise.
“Have witnessed Sridevi’s life from an adolescent teenager to the magnificent lady she became. Her stardom was well deserved. Many happy moments with her flash through my mind including the last time I met her. Sadma’s lullaby haunts me now. We’ll miss her,” he had tweeted.
Fondly called the ‘Last Empress’, Sridevi began her career as a child artiste and soon became a superstar. Her most notable films are Moondram Pirai, Atiloka Sundari and Moondru Mudichu to name a few. She also ruled Bollywood and became its first lady superstar. Her most popular Hindi films include Chandini, Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, and Lamhe to name a few. She was last seen in MOM. The film revolved around a hard-hitting topic and did well at the box office.
There truly will never be another like her
