Trisha is arguably one of the most gorgeous and popular stars in Southern cinema today. During her reasonably eventful career, she has found firm footing in the industry thanks to her sincere performances, good looks and vivacious personality. Moreover, she has been a part of several well received films – right from ‘VTV’ to ‘Kodi’—and proved that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Now, she is in the limelight for an awesome reason. As it so happens, Trisha was given UNICEF celebrity advocate status at a function in Chennai, earlier today. In this capacity, she will be creating an awareness about the rights of children and young people. Speaking about the decision to bring her on board, Chief of UNICEF office Tamil Nadu & Kerala said that Trisha’s popularity will help in highlighting the need to stop the violations of child rights.

“Trisha is an icon for the adolescents and the young people. She has the power to amplify the children’s issues and address the violation of child rights in the family, community and in public spaces. She will also promote education and health of adolescents and the value of girl child in family and society,” he added.

As expected, Trisha was humbled to receive this honour and said that she would do her level best to support the cause.

“I feel honoured with this recognition. I commit myself to create more awareness on health, education, nutrition and protection of children, especially the adolescents and young people in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. I would support the efforts of the government to make Tamil nadu malnutrition-free and open defecation free,” she said.

Here are some photos of Trisha from today’s event.
