If Puri Jagannadh remade Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap in South, who could reprise the Amitabh-Sonu Sood combo?

Amitabh Bachchan, just the name in itself is an inspiration to millions of people including filmmakers and actors. Me being one of those millions of people, it is tough to think of a replacement for him in the films he has acted in. And more so, if those were remade in a different language. Many of Amitabh Bachchan’s films like Zanjeer, Amar Akbar Anthony and Deewar among many others were remade in different languages and were decent hits too. However, one film that could blow the roof, if remade, is Amitabh Bachchan’s 2011 release Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap had Amitabh Bachchan playing a role young and extrovert at heart and the film went on to become one of the biggest hits in Bollywood. Even if the character was a older role, the characteristics portrayed by it was something never seen before in Indian cinema. That being one of my favourites too, just the thought of the film being remade creates a lot of excitement. But the casting might be a hard step since finding another actor like Amitabh Bachchan who would fit the bill so perfectly would be a tough task. Amitabh Bachchan’s character in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap is the central character and most of the attention is always towards that role, and hence an actor with that stature only could help this remake work. But we took a look at few combos that could be the closest match to the Amitabh Bachchan-Sonu Sood combo.

Chiranjeevi – Ram Charan:

Amitabh Bachchan’s role in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap required someone who could portray a mix of various emotions and who else would be the best fit for such role in Tollywood – Megastar Chiranjeevi. If Chiranjeevi plays the father, then having Ram Charan playing the son/cop would be an interesting and exciting move. Boy, wouldn’t that be a treat for fans of the Mega family!

Balakrishna – Jr NTR:

First thought that comes could be – not possible! But, hey, we are just talking about fiction here. If Balayya Babu plays the father and Jr NTR plays the son/cop, it would be a feast for the fans of the Nandamuri family. But imagine the kind of intensity these two would bring on screen when they are together. Visualise the police station scene or the pub scene?! Hell, yeah!

Venkatesh – Rana Daggubati:

Venky might be a bit young to don this role but could be one of the best actors to don such role with varied characteristics. And if Rana as a cop with a fit physique and is seen locking horns with his uncle onscreen, what else could a Telugu movie-lover ask for. Venkatesh has time and again proven that he is a complete package as an actor and can pull off any roles.

Mohan Babu – Manchu Vishnu:

Collections King Mohan Babu as the sharp-shooter who is delivering cursing dialogues in his own style would be a very intriguing thing to visualise. If RGV could convince Mohan Babu to act in Rowdy, then why not in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. And Vishnu does have similar aura of the cop role played by Sonu Sood in the original. This would be a very interesting combo to watch!

Mammooty – Dulquer Salmaan:

Not much is required to say here. They are both big stars in Malayalam and have fans who are dying to see them together in a film. And Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap could just be the film to see them together onscreen. Dulquer Salmaan as a cop, eh?

Rajinikanth – Vijay:

Just the thought of this might send the fans of both the actors into a frenzy. Vijay as a cop, which he has aced many a times with super grace, and Thalaivar Rajinikanth as the don/father would just be a dream come true for fans of Tamil cinema to watch on big screen. How we wish this happened!

Kamal Haasan – Ajith:

We know that Mr. Haasan had said recently that he won’t be doing anymore films but if he does this remake as his last film, it would just be the perfect farewell for the versatile actor. And if Thala Ajith embraces the cop look opposite Mr.Haasan, then what else can one ask for being a Tamil movie-buff. Wow!
