When director Praveen Sattaru roped in Rajasekhar for his highly anticipated ‘PSV Garuda Vega’, many movie buffs felt that it was a mistake as the veteran had not delivered a hit in a while. However, upon release, the film proved to be a success and proved the director’s critics wrong. During a recent chat with a leading daily, Sattaru said that Rajasekhar’s dry run at the box office actually helped the film as fans did not have high expectations from it.
“Frankly speaking, I could not imagine anyone other than Dr Rajasekhar to carry off the role in Garuda Vega. His films may not have done well but his acting credentials are beyond doubt. I felt his hit-less patch turned out to be an advantage as there were no big expectations or image baggage that the film had to cater to. The audience has never seen him in this sort of a role before and were pleasantly surprised. So while people saw the glass half-empty, I saw it half-full,” he added.
He went on to add that ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ is a game-changer and has set a template for action films.
“Garuda Vega has re-written action in Telugu cinema. The film is a template for action-movies in future,” he added.
Well, we are happy for the director and hope that his future projects do well at the box office. In case you did not know, ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ is an action-thriller and features Rajasekhar in the role of an NIA officer. The cast also features names such as Kishore and Pooja Kumar.
