This November, actress Nayanthara gave strong proof of her abilities as a performer when the hard-hitting ‘Aramm’ opened to a decent response at the box office while receiving rave reviews along the way. In it, she essayed the role of an IAS officer and made a solid impact. Praising the film, actor Sivakarthikeyan had said that it touched upon a sensitive issue in the most hard-hitting way possible.

“There is no entertainment quotient in Nayanthara’s Aramm and the makers have made a bold decision of straight away jumping into the strong content. It is a wonderful and touching film which is a must watch for one and all as it touches upon important and essential issues and engages audiences throughout,” he had said.

Thereafter, she tasted success o9nce again when ‘Velaikkaran’ opened to a good response at the box office on December 22 and received positive reviews along the way. In the action-thriller, she was seen opposite Sivakarthikeyan and shared goo onscreen chemistry with him. Talking about her role  director Mohan Raja had said that it was in sync with her superstar image.

“I think an artiste should get into the skin of the character he/she is playing and Nayanthara does it brilliantly. She attends workshops for her films and I am not sure how many others do it. Her experience shows in every scene she performs and our challenge now is to make this film bigger and better than Thani Oruvan. I’ve to do justice to her image,” he had told a leading daily.

With ‘Velaikkaran’ and ‘Aramm’ I n the rearview, Nayan is currently gearing up for her next big screen outing ‘Jai Simha’. The film has been directed by KS Ravikumar and has already created a buzz amongst fans as it will see her share screen space with Balakrishna once again. Now, it seems that the interest surrounding the film is set to reach new heights. In an exciting development, the promo of the ‘Priyam Jagame Anandhamayam’ number from ‘Jai Simha’ has been released. And, needless to say, it is quite good. In it, a lovely Nayan can be seen romancing a stylish NBK and mesmerising him with his beauty. As expected, the ‘Lady Superstar’ and NBK make a good pair much to the delight of countless movie buffs. The two have previously worked together in successful films like ‘Simha’. And, judging by the latest promo, ‘Jai Simha’ too could turn out to be a delight.

On a related note, this is a busy time for Nayanthara. Besides ‘Jai Simha’, she has ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’  and ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ in her kitty. ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ is a thriller and has been directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. In it, she will be seen alongside Arharvaa and Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. Talking about Kashyap’s role, the director had said that it will be quite powerful.

“I’m a huge fan of Anurag’s films. When I saw him in Murugadoss’s Akira, as the cop-villain, I was convinced he was the perfect choice for the role of villain Rudra. I saw Anurag’s rare combination of subtlety, intensity and unpredictability which is what I needed. Rudra holds the story together. If I couldn’t cast Anurag, I felt my film wouldn’t be complete. The characteristics Anurag displayed were in sync with what I had written. He evokes such fear with his subtle and sheer villainy, making him the perfect choice,” he had told a website.

As far as ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is concerned, it is a period film and will see her act opposite Chiranjeevi. Directed by Surender Reddy, it is magnum opus and also has Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a key role. It is slated to hit screens in late 2018.
