In 2015, actor Prabhas became the newest heartthrob of Indian cinema when ‘Baahubali’ opened to a thunderous response at the box office and received rave reviews along the way. In it, he essayed a double role and made a solid impact with his power-packed performance. Last years, just two months after the release of the first ‘Baahubali’ film, Prabhas mania ran wild once again as ‘Baahubali 2’ opened to a phenomenal response at the box office and redefined the very tenets of Indian cinema. Talking about the success of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor had said that it was good news for the whole fraternity.
“It’s great to see cinemas are breaking barriers of languages, Koi film Hindustan main jo achieve kar pa rahi hai, Its very beneficial for entire industry and wish all the success to everybody involved with Baahubali. Kam se kam hum iss scale ki movies attempt kar rahe hai and somebody (SS Rajamouli) is backing it and spending time to make it. So it’s very inspiring and we all are inspired and we all are going to work harder to make better movies,” he had added.
Now, there is some more good news for Prabhas’ fans. As it so happens, T-town’s ‘Darling’ is finally all set to make his Bollywood debut and add a new dimension to his career. During a recent chat with Bombay Times. He confirmed that he will be entering B-town with a romantic-drama and beginning a new chapter in life. He also added that he will begin work on his Hindi film post ‘Saaho’.
“I watch a lot of Hindi films; I live in Hyderabad, where 60 per cent of the people speak in Hindi. I am getting good offers from Bollywood; I had okayed a script three years ago. It is a love story that I will do post ‘Saaho’,” Prabhas added.
He also added that he met quite a few Bollywood stars at Karan Johar’s place and found them to be quite friendly. The star also said that he shares a good rapport with Karan and can take help from him when the need arises.
“I made a good association with Karan Johar; if I want anything, I think I can ask him. He has helped us a lot. In fact, I met some actors (from Bollywood) in Karan’s house. They were all very chilled out. I think that Bollywood stars are more chilled out than actors in Tamil or Telugu cinema, though the new generation of actors (down South) are also more chilled out,” he added.
Well, we wish Prabhas good luck and hope that he conquers Bollywood just the same way that he conquered Tollywood.
As far as ‘Saaho’ is concerned, it is an action-thriller and will see Prabhas in a brand new avatar. A Sujeeth directorial, it is a Hindi-Telugu-Tamil trilingual and will hit screens this year. Besides Prabhas, it also features Shraddha Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead. A few days ago, ‘Darling’ had revealed that Shraddha has a powerful role in the film and not just a fleeting appearance.
“I have never worked with a Bollywood actor before and she is the best choice for the role. We are very lucky to have her on board. Her character is not just like coming and going or just there for the songs. The character is very important and adds a lot of weight to the story. It is one of the most important characters in the film. She has some amazing action sequences also. It is a very strong character,” he had told PTI.
On the other hand, Neil will be seen playing the villain in what is the first Telugu film of his career. Sometime ago, he had said that his character will come across as a perfect mega-villain to a megastar like Prabhas.
“This is a larger-than-life film and, post-Baahubali, the entire nation is rooting for Prabhas. And where there is a mega hero, there will always be a mega-villain too. My character has many shades like every other character in the film,” he had told a leading daily.
So, will Prabhas be able to conquer Bollywood? Comments, please!
