4 Years of Manam: Nagarjuna remembers father Akkineni Nageswar Rao celebrating the special day

2014 May 23rd was the day Telugu audiences saw the Akkineni clan come together for a film which was one of the biggest hits in Tollywood. Head of the family Akkineni Nageswar Rao, son Nagarjuna and grandsons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil were all part of Manam which was the last movie of ANR before passed away in his 90s. interestingly, Manam also starred Samantha Akkineni who was going to join the Akkineni family as a member in a couple of years. Directed by Vikram K Kumar, Manam was the story of reincarnation of four people who are weaved and interlinked into each other’s lives. And as the film turns 4 years old in theatrical run, Akkineni Nagarjuna commemorated his father, Akkineni Nageswar Rao, who passed away the same year.

Taking to Twitter, Nag wrote – “It’s been 4 yrs since #Manam released. I hv been thinking of how you made us cry, laugh and finally inspire the family to face life and death!! we think of you all the time NANA and we smile🙏 #ANRliveson” and also posted a lovely picture of ANR. Nagarjuna also brought to notice an interesting thing about Manam. Manam released on the same date as Nagarjuna’s debut film Vikram did. “I sometimes wonder if it is a coincidence or the universe likes numbers🤔my fathers LAST film #manam & my FIRST film Vikram released on the same date May23🙏of course we didn’t plan.. it just happened!! Reverse 23 and that becomes 32! My age as an actor😊thx for all the love” wrote Nag speaking about it.

Manam will stay as a special film for the Akkineni family for life and May 23rd will always hold special place in Nagarjuna’s heart for all the above reasons. In fact, the production house owned by Nagarjuna, Annapurna Studios, has the tune from Manam for their logo in films and television programs.
