Actor Sri Reddy strips in public to protest ‘exploitation’ of Telugu girls in Tollywood

In a shocking development, earlier today, upcoming actor Sri Reddy stripped in front of the office of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and claimed that local girls face a lot of exploitation in the Telugu film industry. She added that filmmakers prefer casting women from elsewhere and ignore Telugu girls. Justifying her actions, she said that it is the only way that she can draw attention to the serious issue.

“This is the only way I can think of expressing my grief. If I have shown myself nude to several people in the film industry and despite that have got no roles, the only way I can protests is by going nude publicly,” she added.

Sri Reddy went on to add that, like other local girl, she has been taken advantage of and not given any work in return.

“They see the (intimate)videos and give no roles. They have even asked for live nude videos from me. That is the extent to which they go to take advantage of women who seek role. They give roles to actresses imported from Mumbai or others places, whereas we local girls are only sexually exploited on the promise of being given roles,” added the actor.

Issuing a threat to the ‘powers that be’, she said that she would create a bigger scene if things did not improve. This is volatile situation and it will be worth watching what happens next.

Interestingly, Sri Reddy has been speaking about the casting couch for quite some time now. In a statement, she had leveled some strong allegations against a few big names. She had also lashed out at actor Rakul Preet for denying the existence of the casting couch and claimed that she was playing it safe as she did not want to lose out on offers.

Then it’s high time you learned that doing nude videos is not the way to get a job, no matter what profession you are in #dignityfirst

She is missing a very important point. Largely, Telugu girls are ugly (including her) . Com’ on this is an entertainment industry where looks matter. how can I watch this girl sri reddy for 3 hours meledramatic telugu movie. Sorry got to look good. telugu girls just aren’t pretty for movies! That is the reality!

There are not many telugu heroines, mainly because Telugu families are conservatives, who just don’t allow their daughters to act..They consider actress job cheap..Thats the main problem, otherwise,i don’t think they purposefully avoid telugu people…They will choose the best available girls…I have seen ultra gorgeous girls like Kiara Advani to ultra talented yet not so conventional beauty like Sai pallavi..Film industry is not like a govt job to employ ”n” number of people from the state etc….I have seen comments like how Tamil people respect their culture…Khushboo,Nagma,Simran,Jyothika,Nayanthara,Asin,Kajal…etc etc… plenty of Non tamil women have ruled and are ruling that industry..I have seen plenty of south indian girls ruling bollywood as well..Movie indusry has no language barriers,,its for every one and the opportunity is for every one…

Regardless of the method of her protest, there’s no denying that the cause is real. Telugu industry is filled with heroines from northern states or other countries. Please tell me what special skills do they have other than fair skin? The heroes are accepted as they are but the heroines have to be fair? Why does the Telugu industry so blatantly ignore local talent?

It’s not an overnight change. Even 90’s actress like Soundarya, Ramya Krishna are not telugu. Watch any Telugu Serial, you’ll get plenty of senior Telugu actress who can’t even dub to their own role. Every female actor will have the same voice. Telugu actress like Swathi Reddy, Shri Dhivya were not open for commercial films which do huge business. So, mistake is not with the movie makers or co actors.

She is right..there is not a single telugu heroine in TFI. Shame on so called telugu heroes, they never come out and speak about any social issues. They always play safe and hide behind like cowards.

How come stripping going to bring change in the industry? She is so desperate! If you are talent, go to the places where it is appreciated. Instead making fool of out of yourself in public eyes.

She is telling the truth. Casting couch is an illness every where. Hang them all.

Casting couch is a reality only if you are willing… the offer will be made to the person seen as desperate and willing to do anything like this girl, sri reddy! First they strip and they scream rape!

Thats true. Almost all the actors in Telugu industry are Telugu because almost all of them are someone’s sons. But almost all of the Telugu actresses are from northern states. Also none of the film industry families let their daughters work in movies. They are conveniently married off to rich politician’s sons.

SHAME on Telugu industry for ignoring ‘Local’ talents…..learn something from TAMIL industry which takes pride in their culture…..although I am from Mumbai , I like how TAMILIANS retain their culture…

Their movies are on another level too. Love it even though I don’t understand a word of it.
